Air Fryer Soy-Honey Glazed Chicken Wings (Crispy, Sticky)
These are the sticky, glossy wings to make when you want a crowd-pleasing appetizer without deep-frying. The wings get a quick seasoning rub with a little cornstarch — the secret to crisping them up — then go straight into the air fryer until the skin is golden and crackly. While they cook, a fast soy-honey glaze comes together in a pan with melted butter and garlic, and the crispy wings get tossed in until every piece is coated and shiny. They come together quickly and disappear even faster.
When I filmed this one, I was chasing wing-night flavor without a pot of oil. The trick worth stealing is in the seasoning bowl: a little cornstarch mixed right in with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. That's the secret most people don't tell you about — it's what helps the skin crisp up in the air fryer. The other move is patience: the wings marinate at least 30 minutes, and the longer they sit, the better they get.
This one's for anybody feeding a crowd — or just feeding themselves something that feels like takeout. If you've got a bag of wings and an air fryer, you can make these tonight.

The recipe
Air Fryer Soy-Honey Glazed Chicken Wings (Crispy, Sticky)
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb chicken wings, rinsed well
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- garlic powder, to taste
- paprika, to taste
- cornstarch, a little — just enough to lightly coat the wings for crisping
- oyster sauce, to taste
- butter, to taste (for the glaze, melted)
- 1 tbsp minced garlic (for the glaze)
- soy glaze, to taste
- honey, to taste
How to Make It
- Rinse about 1 1/2 lb of chicken wings really well and pat them off.
- Season the wings with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Add the cornstarch to help the wings crisp up.
- Add the oyster sauce and mix everything together until the wings are evenly coated.
- Let the wings marinate to the side for at least 30 minutes — the longer they sit, the more seasoned they get.
- Arrange as many wings as will comfortably fit in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Halfway through, shake the basket or flip the wings so the other side crisps up.
- Cook for another 10 minutes or so, until the wings are crispy and cooked through.
- For the glaze, melt the butter in a pan, then stir in the minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the soy glaze and honey, and heat until the sauce loosens and turns glossy.
- Add the crispy wings to the pan and toss until fully coated in the glaze.
- If the pan is crowded, add a little more soy glaze and honey to balance, then keep tossing until everything is shiny and serve.
Curtis's Tips
- Rinse the chicken really well before seasoning.
- The paprika adds smoky flavor and a nice color to the wings.
- Cornstarch is the secret to crispier wings — most people don't tell you about that trick.
- Let the wings marinate as long as you can; 30 minutes works, but the longer they sit, the better they taste.
- Halfway through air frying, shake the basket or flip the wings so both sides get crispy.
- Make sure the glaze is heated and loosened up before you add the wings.
- If you load in a lot of wings, just add a little more soy glaze and honey to keep everything well coated.
Why this works
The cornstarch is the big one — it's what helps the wings crisp up, no deep-frying required. The paprika pulls double duty: smoky flavor plus a nice color on the chicken. The shake-or-flip halfway through the air fry is how both sides get crispy instead of just one. And the glaze has one rule: heat it until it loosens up and turns glossy before the wings go in — that's what coats every piece.
FAQ
How long should the wings marinate?
At least 30 minutes — that's the minimum. The honest answer is as long as you possibly can: the longer the wings sit in that seasoning, the more seasoned they get.
What temperature and how long in the air fryer?
400°F for 15 to 20 minutes, with a shake or a flip halfway so the other side crisps up too, then about another 10 minutes, until the wings are crispy and cooked through.
How much soy glaze and honey go into the sauce?
I don't call out exact amounts in the video — here's how I judge it: melt the butter really well, stir in the garlic, add the soy glaze and honey, and heat the sauce until it loosens up. That loosening is your cue it's ready for the wings.
Can I tweak the glaze — or make a big batch?
The two levers I work with in the video are the soy and the honey, so start there. If you load in a lot of wings and the glaze needs balancing, add a little more of each and keep cooking the wings in the sauce until everything is coated and shiny.
